Simone Biles, the American gymnast, has set a new record by becoming the most decorated gymnast in history. She secured her second gold medal at the World Gymnastics Championships, bringing her total to 34 world and Olympic medals, surpassing any other gymnast, regardless of gender. After aiding the U.S. team in achieving their seventh consecutive team title, Biles clinched the all-around gold in Belgium with a score of 58.399 points. She outperformed the defending champion, Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, and her fellow American, Shilese Jones, who secured silver and bronze respectively. This championship marked Biles' triumphant return to international competition after a two-year hiatus to focus on her mental well-being. With this win, she now holds six all-around world titles and a total of 27 world medals, 21 of which are gold. Biles has the opportunity to further increase her medal count in the upcoming apparatus finals. Her outstanding performance comes as the Paris Olympics approach in less than 10 months. Meanwhile, Great Britain faced unexpected changes when their 2022 world floor champion, Jessica Gadirova, had to withdraw from the all-around competition. Alice Kinsella replaced her, finishing seventh, while Ondine Achampong ranked 13th. Kinsella expressed her surprise at the sudden change, recounting the rush to prepare for the competition.
