Two studies published in Scientific Reports highlight the positive impact of birds on mental well-being. The presence of birds, as well as listening to their songs, has been associated with better mental health and improved mood. Researchers found that encounters with birds, even in urban environments, were linked to enhanced mental well-being. Listening to recordings of birdsongs, even through headphones, was shown to alleviate negative emotions such as anxiety and depression. The findings suggest that birds and their songs serve as a connection to nature and have a positive effect on our mental health, making them a valuable source of well-being.
