The Biden administration is directing $6 billion in funding towards decarbonization projects in energy-intensive industries, such as steel, aluminum, and cement making, that contribute to 25% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. The Industrial Demonstrations Program will provide competitive grants for up to 50% of the cost of projects to cut emissions from industry, including production of chemicals, ceramics, and paper. The program is part of President Joe Biden's pledge to decarbonize the U.S. economy by 2050. The funding comes from the infrastructure bill and the Inflation Reduction Act. The deadline for concept papers expressing interest in the grants is April 21, with full applications due on August 4.
