New Idea for Sucking up CO2 From Air Shows Promise

Scientists have proposed a new method for capturing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in seawater as bicarbonate of soda, which is up to three times more efficient than current techniques. This approach uses off-the-shelf resins and other chemicals and offers a far more cost-effective and efficient method for carbon removal technology, which could speed up the deployment of carbon capture. The research is in its early stages, but experts in the field have welcomed it, saying it stands a good chance of transforming CO2 capture efforts. The addition of some chemicals could transform the captured CO2 into bicarbonate of soda, which can be stored safely and simply in seawater.
