Manhattan Teen Gifted New Boots By Firefighters Who Saved Him In Crash

Brenden Wetzel, a Manhattan teen, was surprised by New Lenox Fire first responders with a new pair of cowboy boots that he lost when he was in a crash. Wetzel, a senior at Lincoln-Way West, was driving to school in February when he lost control of his truck and suffered several injuries, including a lacerated spleen and a concussion. Emergency responders cut off his boots due to the severity of his leg injuries, and they decided to replace them later. Wetzel, who is described as "a good ol' country boy," was devastated by the loss of his boots and truck.
