K-9 Dog Team Finds Missing Man in Alexandria Woods

An 80-year-old man named Richard Taylor, who suffers from dementia, was found safe after going missing during a walk near his home in Alexandria. The New England K-9 Search and Rescue team, along with local authorities, were involved in the search. Daniel Lampignano and his German shepherd, Logan, located Taylor in the woods about 0.6 miles from his home. The all-volunteer group of New England K-9 Search and Rescue relies on "air scent" dogs trained to follow human scent carried by the wind. Lampignano, who is also a physician, credited the successful rescue to the team's longstanding partnership with New Hampshire Fish and Game. The team members, who often have full-time jobs, are dedicated to their mission, sometimes even deploying for national emergencies like the 9/11 attacks.
