BencanaBot, a "Humanitarian WhatsApp Chatbot," was launched in Indonesia by disaster relief non-profit Yayasan Peta Bencana. The AI-powered chatbot guides users through submitting disaster reports that are mapped in real-time on PetaBencana.id, where locals can view and share updates to coordinate safety and responses. With over 80 million WhatsApp users in Indonesia, BencanaBot offers a new milestone in disaster information sharing, making it easier for communities to adapt to the existential threats of climate change.
