Naomi Rowe-Gurney, a post-doctoral research scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Washington, has spoken about how Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, her former university's Chancellor, inspired her career in space science. Dr. Aderin-Pocock, who hosts the BBC's The Sky at Night, became Chancellor at the University of Leicester earlier this month. Rowe-Gurney has been a science enthusiast from an early age, and meeting Dr. Aderin-Pocock was a source of great inspiration. Rowe-Gurney is currently on a two-year contract at NASA, working as a post-doctoral research scientist.
