An 8-year-old girl named Peyton Thorsby from Florida won first place in a cheer competition after her team did not show up, and she performed the routine alone in front of a crowd of a few hundred people. Despite being scared and nervous, Peyton did not want to let her team down and hoped her performance inspires other kids to be brave. Her solo performance made headlines after a similar incident involving a 17-year-old senior at Morrill High School in Nebraska.
