John Sotelo, a Costco employee in Clovis, California, was named Employee of the Month after he found and returned an envelope containing $3,940 in cash. Sotelo discovered the envelope while stocking cases of water and immediately notified his manager. Using surveillance footage and Costco identification numbers, they were able to locate the customer who had lost the money. The grateful customer revealed that the money was intended for her children's education. Sotelo, who had set a personal goal to work hard and maintain a positive attitude, achieved his aim of becoming Employee of the Month and is now commemorated on a plaque inside the store.
