Broward Public Schools Going "Green" With New Electric Buses

Broward County Public Schools in South Florida will be the first school district in the region to deploy electric buses. The district unveiled 60 new electric buses that will transport 54,000 students every school day and lower carbon emissions. The electric buses are expected to hit the roads in the 2023/24 school year and will form the largest fleet of electric buses in the state. The buses, funded by a $14.8 million grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, produce no emissions at the tailpipe and are quiet on the road. The charging infrastructure is provided by Florida Power & Light Company's EVolution pilot program.
