9-Year-Old Maryland Girl Discovers ‘Once-in-a-Lifetime’ Megalodon Tooth

A 9-year-old girl in Maryland found a 5-inch tooth from a prehistoric megalodon, a giant shark that lived more than 23 million years ago. Paleontology curator Stephen Godfrey said the discovery was a "once-in-a-lifetime" find and that the size of the tooth indicates the shark was between 45 and 50 feet long. The girl's mother set up an Instagram page to share her daughter's outdoor adventures and inspire other children to pursue their scientific interests. That's great!!!
