Pandemic Porch Concerts Bring Joyful Music to the Silent Streets of Alameda
Alameda musicians have banded together to take their sounds to the streets. The Alameda Porch Music concerts began on March 20, just days after Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered all bars and dining closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Suddenly, throughout the Bay Area and beyond, gigs were canceled, and musicians scrambled to figure out other sources of income. But mainly, because it’s their passion, they just wanted to play and entertain others, especially during these trying times.
